Traders flay police for failing to crack murder case

Condemning the police for failing to make any headway in the investigation into the murder of a pawn-broker, the Puducherry Traders’ Federation on Saturday took out a procession from Maraimalai Adigalar Salai to the office of the Director-General of Police.

Radhe Shyam Dhoot, 50, was found murdered inside his shop on Maramalai Adigalar Salai on the morning of April 5 and jewellery worth over Rs.1.5 crore missing.

Immediately after the incident, office-bearers of the Puducherry Traders’ Federation met Director-General of Police and Chief Minister and urged them to expedite investigation and arrest the culprits. The traders on Saturday took out procession from Maraimalai Adigalar Salai and submitted a memorandum urging him to arrest the culprits soon.

M. Sivasankar, president of Puducherry Traders’ Federation, said, “A hundred days have passed since the murder. But, the police have not apprehended the accused. We urge the police to nab the culprits in this case without further delay.”
