The police on Friday arrested three persons including a constable of the Armed police on charges of producing fake non-traceable certificates.

According to police, Arumugam of Pitchaveeranpet near Villianur had approached the Regional Transport Office to obtain a duplicate of his driving license which he had lost during travel.

Irudayaraj (42) and Kadiravan (40), owners of a driving school on the 100-feet-Road introduced themselves to Arumugam and promised to get him a duplicate of his driving license for a fee. The duo also promised to get a non-traceable certificate from the police to help Arumugam get his duplicate license.

Arumugam contacted officials in the RTO after he failed to get his driving license after a few weeks. He was informed by officials in the RTO that the validity period of the non-traceable certificate issued by the police had expired.

Subsequently Arumugam approached the Villianur police to renew the certificate. The matter came to light after police personnel in the Villianur station found that the certificate was forged.

An inquiry revealed that Irudayaraj and Kadiravan in connivance with Lawrence, a constable of the Armed police were involved in producing fake non-traceable certificates of police with fake stamps.

Police said Lawrence who was earlier posted at Mudaliarpet station had issued several non-traceable certificates by forging signatures. Lawerence who was later transferred to the Armed police continued to issue fake certificates in connivance with Irudayaraj and Kadiravan. The three have been arrested. They were produced before a local court and remanded to custody.
