Three dismissed cops surrender before CB-CID

Three of the nine policemen who were absconding after they were identified by victims of a child prostitution racket surrendered before the Crime Branch CID police here on Saturday.

The trio were identified as Sub-Inspector Balakrishnan, constables Selvakumar and Shankar.

They were produced before a local court and remanded in custody in the Kalapet Central Prison.

It may be recalled that the department had dismissed the eight police personnel from service after they failed to appear before the investigating officer.  

Ever since, the child victims identified them as accused in the case, all nine persons including a retired cop have been absconding. The department had also announced a cash award for providing information on their whereabouts.
