Three arrested on cheating charge

The Grand Bazaar police have arrested three persons from Chennai on charges of cheating electronics shops of goods estimated at several lakhs of rupees by furnishing fake cheques.

The three had first struck at Venkatanagar where they rented a fully furnished commercial complex on the pretext of operating a business and took away 14 air-conditioners and furniture. They “purchased” several LED television sets from two electronics showrooms using fake cheques, police said. The police estimated the value of the stolen electronics and other goods to be around Rs. 20 lakh. The names of the accused were given as Sayed Jaffer from Triplicane, Rubis Jaleel from Puliyanthope, and Muneer Ahamed from Thiruvallur.
