The Hindu-Hamam initiative to plant 1 lakh saplings ends

Effort aimed to overcome loss of green cover lost due to Cyclone Vardah

The two-month long initiative of The Hindu group and Hamam to plant one lakh saplings of neem concluded on Sunday with a massive plantings exercise in 14 districts, including Villupuram and Cuddalore.

The valedictory function in Villupuram district was held at NAAHAR Public School.

Superintendent of Police Jayakumar and social worker Maram Karunanidhi participated.

Superintendent of Police Vijayakumar was the chief guest at the valedictory function held at St. Joseph Higher Secondary School in Cuddalore district.

He complimented Hamam and The Hindu group for taking up the much needed initiative of tree planting.

The joint initiative was held to overcome loss of green cover due to Cyclone Vardah in December last year.

Saplings were planted in different places in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur, Villupuram, Thirunelveli, Villupuram, Tirunelveli, Cuddalore, Thanjavur, Pudukottai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Salem, Erode, Tiruchi and Madurai.
