The All India State Government Employees’ Confederation and the TASMAC Employees’ Union has called upon the Tamil Nadu government to regularise the services of about 30,000 employees of the 7,000 Tasmac outlets in the State.
General Secretary of the Confederation K. Balasubramanian told presspersons here on Tuesday that supervisors, salespersons and bar attenders in the Tasmac outlets were getting only a consolidated pay (a meagre amount), for the past 10 years.
It was in violation of the Trade Union Act and the Industrial Dispute Act that call for regularisation of employees who have put in 480 days of service in two years.
Though the duration of the working hours for the workers was from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. it would usually get extended up to midnight as the employees had to settle the accounts for the day.
Working condition in the outlets and attached bars also called for improvement.
