As part of a cultural exchange programme, 10 students from Puducherry and Cuddalore along with two staff members of Intercultural Network for Development and Peace (INDP), a non-governmental organisation, are on a two-week visit to Lyon city in France starting from July 7.
The students are being hosted by Quartier Vitalite, a Government-run socio-cultural organisation. INDP has already entered into a tie up with Quartier Vitalite for the cultural exchange programme.
Augustin Brutus Jaykumar, founder Director of INDP, said that in their present visit, the students from various government and private schools will have cultural exchange with French students and share information and ideas with the French students on topics such as family, village, society, country, community, language and culture.
The students would also get an opportunity to know about the various co-curricular and extracurricular activities and their culture. The average age group of the students taking part in the exchange programme is 12-14 years.
The students hailing from diverse backgrounds underwent a one-month training organised by INDP in May to enable them to participate in the cultural exchange programme. The selected students including five boys and five girls will showcase their individual talents and participate in dance, cookery and other cultural programmes. The students will also speak about agriculture and green energy, Mr. Jaykumar said.
