Officials and media persons covering the pre-budget meeting at the Assembly Secretariat on Friday were stuck in an elevator for about 35 minutes apparently due to overloading.
Sources said officials of a few departments along with media persons took the elevator on the ground floor of the Assembly complex at around 7 p.m.
However, the elevator stopped after it crossed the first floor.
The metal doors of the lift were also jammed.
On information staff in the Assembly Secretariat rushed to the spot and opened the lift with the help of a key.
