A month ago, Selva Angel Fine Arts Foundation in Puducherry selected six government schools from rural areas to test the artistic skills of the children. S.M.C. Rajesh, its founder, went to these schools, distributing painting materials to the art teachers to be given to the children in their schools.

For over a month, the teachers training trained students from classes VII to XI. The outcome of this effort was the exhibition of 30 best paintings and sculpture works of students exhibited at the Government School Students Art exhibition organised by the foundation at Vanna Aruvi Art Gallery.

The gallery walls adorned the paintings of animals, birds and portraits. Displayed on a small table were also paper sculptures made by Class VIII students of Indira Gandhi Government Higher Secondary School.

“We organised the exhibition on the occasion of the first anniversary, ‘Nallodhor Veenai Seidhen,’ of the foundation. We reach out to rural schools to support the children to showcase their artistic skills to the world. In the previous years, we went to only two or three schools. This year, we have reached out to six schools,” said Mr. Rajesh.

Art works of students from the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kathirkamam; Thiruvalluvar Government Higher Secondary School, Akkaswamigal Government Middle School in Vaithikuppam, Kothapurinatham Government High School and Indira Gandhi Government Higher Secondary School, Indira Nagar were on display.
