Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi has called upon the youth to acquaint themselves with what is happening around the world and they should listen to the news bulletins of AIR or Doordarshan.
Administering the pledge Sankalp Parva (Day of Resolve) to all those present at a function organised by the Song and Drama Division of Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry in association with the Pondicherry University here on Friday, she said the youth should dedicate themselves to ensuring “clean, corruption-free and communalisim-free India”.
Ms. Bedi stressed on the need for students to learn Hindi. Leading artistes presented programmes highlighting the spirit of patriotism in different languages and different cultural and heritage features of the nation.
Anurag Misra, Director, Song and Drama Division, stressed on the need for a clean, corruption-free and caste-free India. The younger generation should have dedication and respect for one another and a strong feeling of patriotism from the school level so that they could become responsible citizens.
Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University Anisa Basheer Khan felicitated the artists and students who participated in the programme.
