Special school puts up stellar performance

Fourteen of 18 students in the institution clear the exam

Students of Ananda Rangapillai Government Special School for Differently Abled came out with flying colours in Commerce stream in the Class 12 board examination results this year. Nearly 14 out of 18 students in the first batch of Class 12 cleared the exams.

Kannadasan, headmaster, said: “This is the first batch of students for Class 12 from this school. All the students have performed really well.”

S. Velayudham scored 707 marks out of 1,000 and stood first in the school. A native of Villianur, he hails from an impoverished family. “His mother is the only earning member in the family and she works as a daily wage labourer. He is planning to pursue his studies,” he added.

V. Maheswari scored 675 out of 1,000 marks.

S. Amudha, Assistant Director of the school, lauded the efforts of children who wrote the examination despite all odds.
