In a major shift in its school education model, the Puducherry government would be adopting the CBSE curriculum in a phased manner for the academic year 2014-2015, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy said while announcing the State Board class X (SSLC) examination results on Friday. In the first phase, Class 1 students of 167 Tamil medium government schools would be shifted to the CBSE pattern this year, said G. Ragesh Chandra, Education Secretary. Students of Classes 1 to 4 of existing English medium schools would be shifted to the CBSE pattern as well. “We will be providing the language option of Tamil,” he said.
