A struggle for salary: Members of the Puducherry Government Aided School Teachers and Employees Federation staging a protest in Puducherry on Tuesday.

The Government Aided School Teachers and Employees Federation on Tuesday staged a dharna in front of the Swadeshi Mills demanding the management pay pending salary for five months immediately.

According to the federation, the teachers and employees who were supposed to receive their salaries on the last working day of every month are yet to be paid for five months this fiscal. If the trend continues, the federation said it had planned to intensify its agitation.

A. Martin Kennedy, secretary of the federation, said the employees were badly in need of money to meet the educational expenses of their wards. He demanded that the government intervene and ensure that pending salary was released to the workers. The federation demanded the implementation of the VII pay commission recommendations for teachers, employees and pensioners of government aided schools.
