The Junior Jawahar Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Neyveli has launched a Kalam Science Club to mark the celebration of Educational Development Day recently.

S. Balagurunathan, president of Tamilnadu Science Forum inaugurated the club at a function presided over by K. Maruthathal, school principal.

He also performed simple experiments to raise scientific awareness at a session held with the support of CSR Department and Education Department of NLC India Limited.

The programmes included various competitions in the school campus to inculcate scientific temper. Prizes were distributed to the winners of essay, oratorical and drawing competitions. Medals were also given to the winners in the zonal sports competitions.

K.Thamarai Selvi, teacher delivered the vote of thanks.

Science clubs were also launched in various schools in and around Neyveli.
