The Petit Seminaire Higher Secondary School is looking to be designated as an examination Centre of University of Cambridge shortly.

According to the principal of the school, Rev. Fr. Pascal Raj, Cambridge English language training has been imparted since June 2016 to all students from Class 1 to 8, benefitting around 4,500 students.

Three levels of training have been given and one batch of 250 students recently took the Cambridge English examination for an international certificate from University of Cambridge, U.K.

The programme is offered in alliance with Radiant Knowledge Services, a English language training academy.

“Preparing pupils for Cambridge exams at an early age, with a step-by-step progress and in a safe classroom environment, will empower them to succeed at all levels in a competitive world,” Fr. Pascal Raj said.

The Cambridge Young Learners (YLE) international certificates are graded as YLE- Starters, Movers and Flyers. The exam covers all four language skills – reading, writing, listening and speaking. All Cambridge exams are linked to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) – the International standard to describe language ability. This makes it easy for parents to see the progress their children make in English.

The implementation of this training programme in Petit Seminaire Higher Secondary school, aims to bridge the gap that exists between the skill-set required by the corporate world and the skills acquired by the students through the regular course of study, the principal said.

Kayatry Sabitha. R, Academic Director of Radiant, said the students are given tasks which are age-appropriate and fun enough for them to remember, apply and enhance their real-life communication skills.
