The Left parties on Wednesday staged a demonstration near the Legislative Assembly condemning the 25th anniversary of demolition of Babri Masjid and to take a firm stand in defence of secularism.

Leading CPI(M) State secretary R. Rajangam said that it was the need of the hour to protect the secular fabric of the country. He condemned the attacks on Dalits and minorities in the country and said that people should come together to take a firm stand in defence of secularism.

Veteran CPI (M) leader T. Murugan, CPI State secretary R. Viswanathan, and CPI(ML) secretary S. Balasubramaniam were among those who participated in the protest.
