Sergey L. Kotov, Consul-General of the Russian Federation for South India, made a courtesy call on Chief Minister N. Rangasamy at his chamber in the Legislative Assembly here on Thursday.

Mr. Sergey held discussions with the Chief Minister on tapping the potential in different sectors in Puducherry.

Mr. Sergey told The Hindu that it was more a courtesy call though he did discuss with the Chief Minister prospects of cooperation between the Union Territory of Puducherry and Russia on the level of small and medium enterprises.

“We also discussed about increasing cooperation in various sectors particularly education and socio-cultural exchanges. A few Russian companies have proposed joint ventures in Puducherry in the field of environmental cooperation and this was also discussed at the meeting,” he said.
