Students rush to apply for admission as CENTAC announces government quota seats for professional courses for academic year 2015-16

Over 8,500 students have logged on so far to apply for admissions into government quota seats in professional courses in the Union Territory through Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC). Around 5,600 students have submitted their printout application as on Thursday.

The CENTAC had invited applications from candidates seeking admission to professional courses of B. Tech, MBBS, BDS, B.V. Sc and B. Pharm degrees and other professional courses for the academic year 2015-16. The issue of online applications for professional courses for the academic year 2015-2016 opened on May 9 and the online submission of applications closed on Thursday.

Candidates from the Union Territory of Puducherry are eligible for seats in government colleges and seats allotted in self-financing colleges under government quota.

The notification said that the candidates belonging to the Union Territory of Puducherry are eligible for admission in the government colleges and in seats allotted by the CENTAC under government quota in self-financing colleges.

Candidates from other States are not eligible for admission to MBBS /B.A.M.S/BDS/B.V.Sc and AH courses offered under the government quota in government/self-financing colleges through the CENTAC.

Last date for online submission is May 27 and online printout of application should reach on or before June 1.

Submission of application forms was permitted only through online mode. But forms would be considered only on receipt of printout of the online entry along with attested copies of certificates.

The printout must reach CENTAC before June 1 through courier or post.

A top official of CENTAC told The Hindu : “We will release the rank list by June 15 and plans are on to commence counselling immediately after a few days.”

He added that shortly a team of revenue officials would visit the CENTAC and verify the certificates submitted by candidates until June 6.

The CENTAC also announced the seat matrix in government institutions.

For UG courses

Meanwhile, various government arts and science colleges on Thursday commenced the sale of applications to the candidates who seek admission to first year undergraduate degree courses for the academic year in Puducherry Region. A notification for admission said a single application is sufficient to apply for all colleges under purview of Centralised Admission.

Tagore Arts College, Lawspet, Bharathidasan Government College for Women( Autonomous), Muthialpet, Indira Gandhi College of Arts and Science, Kathirkamam, Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Arst College, Kalitheerthalkuppam, Rajiv Gandhi Arts and Science College, Thavalakuppam and Kasturba College for women, Villanur are the colleges which come under Centralised Admission. Last date of issue of application in person and receipt of filled-in application is June 12.

R.Sasikanta Dash, convener of the Centralised Admission said on the first day, around 3000 students got applications from colleges.

A common rank list would be released after June 12 and counselling would be held at Bharathidasan Government College for Women.
