Puducherry police on Friday registered a case of theft after Rs. 3.8 lakh was stolen from the side box of a 58-year-old government staff’s two-wheeler. The police said the staff, a resident of Vazhaikulam, had withdrawn money from the State Bank of India and kept it on the side box of his two-wheeler. “Later, he went to Axis Bank to deposit the amount. Since he did not bring the PAN card which was required to deposit the amount, he was returning home and stopped at S.V. Patel Road to go to a supermarket. When he reached home, he found that the money had been stolen,” said the police.
