On Monday, the 1311 retrenched daily wage workers in the Public Works Department (PWD) will resume work at the Department. Additionally, 109 workers from the Animal Husbandry Department will also be reinstated, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy said.
These workers will be paid wages of Rs. 137 per day, which is the minimum wage given at the Labour Department. The retrenched workers from PASIC, PAPSCO and the other Cooperative Societies will not be resuming work as of now, he told the press on Saturday.
The government will also provide employment for 150 people whose family members died while working for the PWD.
Speaking of the Super Speciality Hospital in Karaikal, he said the foundation stone for the hospital will be laid on Monday. The hospital will be partially funded by the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, which will be giving Rs. 45 crore for the construction. Once the foundation stone is laid, the construction plans and the additional funding needed will be discussed, he said.
The government is attempting to complete all the schemes they have promised, Mr. Rangasamy said.
Construction of flyovers The government announced the construction of several flyovers at the Assembly. Through the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission it has allotted Rs. 615 crore for this work, which will be commencing soon, he added.
