Research scholars present ideas at convention

The best research ideas of 75 teams were selected based on merit and rewarded

Research scholars and young scientists from different Indian universities presented their scientific studies at the All India Research convention titled Anveshan held on the Annamalai University campus from March 27 to 29.

Annamalai University Vice-Chancellor S. Manian inaugurated the convention. R.M. Kathiresan, National Coordinator, Anveshan and Director, Research and Development, Annamalai University welcomed the gathering. Amarendra Pani, Deputy Director, Research, Association of Indian Universities proposed the vote of thanks.

The competitions were conducted in five different categories — Agricultural Sciences, Basic Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Health Sciences and Social Sciences.

The best research ideas of 75 teams were selected. The selected teams made power point presentation before a panel of eminent juries on March 28. Of them, three winners in each discipline were awarded cash prizes, trophies and certificates.

The projects were selected based on merit considering various principles such as scientific thoughts, Skill, Relevance, Cost effectiveness, Teamwork and scope for Commercialisation.

 

Graduation Day

The 17th Graduation Day of Theivanai Ammal College for Women in Villupuram was held recently. In his special address, P. Veeramuthuvel, Scientist, ISRO, Bengaluru he said that graduates should crave to learn and use their knowledge for the development of the nation. Graduates should put in their best efforts to realise their dream, he said.

He advised the graduates to learn to convert life’s challenges into opportunities and achieve success. Education is a tool and the students should use them to realise their potential towards nation building for a better tomorrow.

National workshop

A one-day national workshop for Coordinators of Twinning Programme, Spot Admission and Examination Centres was conducted by the Directorate of Distance E ducation (DDE) of Pondicherry University.

The stakeholders discussed issues and challenges in implementing the courses in addition to discussing about corrective measures. A report on the conference on Distance Education was released by Vice-Chancellor (officiating)Anisa Basheer Khan. Prof. Sibnath Deb, Director (in-charge) of the Directorate of Distance Education participated.

Students of the Department of Civil Engineering of Dr. Pauls Engineering College won the first prize of ₹25,000 at Kalloori Salai, an event conducted by Hello FM at Achariya Arts and Science College recently.
