Meanwhile the Opposition parties dubbed the Lieutenant Governor’s address in the budget session of Legislative Assembly lacklustre and complained that it lacked any action plan of the ruling All India NR Congress Government.

Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee A. V. Subramanian said the government had not spent a big chunk of Rs. 2,000 crore earmarked by Planning Commission for fiscal 2013—2014. The increase in plan outlay to Rs 2,400 crore for this fiscal had largely been due to the sanction of funds for the coastal disaster risk reduction project.

He said the government had not mobilised any revenue to give a push to its sources of income.

R. Vishwanathan, secretary of Communist party of India(CPI), Puducherry unit said the Lieutenant Governor’s address did not reflect any future welfare schemes of government and said there was no word on the financial crunch faced by the government.

V.Perumal, secretary of Communist Party of India (Marxist) said the address did not contain any new policy of the government and it was mere compilation of programmes implemented earlier.
