Former Chief Minister and founder leader of All India N.R. Congress N. Rangasamy made a surprise appearance at the public meeting addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Mr. Rangasamy, who in recent times had been veering towards the BJP, came to the meeting with his party MLAs while Mr. Modi was addressing the gathering. They sat till the end of the speech.
Sources in the party said the Prime Minister had invited Mr. Rangasamy to New Delhi. The former Chief Minister had met BJP president Amit Shah when he visited Puducherry. The talks broke down after Mr. Shah reportedly insisted on merging the AINRC with the BJP.
