Rajiv birth anniversary celebrated

The birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, was celebrated as ‘Sadhbhavana Divas’ (communal harmony day) on behalf of the Government of Puducherry on Wednesday.

At Rajiv Gandhi Square, Chain Factory Junction, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, Speaker V. Sabapathy, Welfare Minister P. Rajavelu, Local Administration Minister N.G. Pannirselvam, Electricity Minister T. Thiagarajan and MLAs paid floral tributes to the statue of Rajiv Gandhi.

The Chief Minister Mr. Rangasamy administered the ‘Sadhbhavana Day’ pledge to them.

Patriotic songs were sung and religious prayers conducted on the occasion.

Later, the Chief Minister, cabinet colleagues and party leaders paid floral tributes to the portrait of the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president A.V. Subramanian, Leader of Opposition and the former Chief Minister, V. Vaithilingam, and party functionaries garlanded the statue at Rajiv Gandhi Square besides celebrating the day at the party office.
