Students in Puducherry and Karaikal regions continued the streak of good performance in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations results which were announced on Wednesday.
Schools in Puducherry region achieved a pass percentage of 93.48 per cent as against 92.90 per cent last year. Class X students in Karaikal secured a pass percentage of 86.92 per cent, a significant drop from last year’s 89.18 per cent.
A total of 17,752 students (8,703 boys and 9,049 girls) appeared for the SSLC examinations from the two regions. As usual girls fared better than boys in the SSLC examinations. Girls secured a pass percentage of 94.86 per cent against 94.67 per cent last year, while boys registered 89.89 per cent against 89.90 per cent in 2014-15.
The pass percentage of students in Government schools touched 84.98 per cent against 85.91 per cent last year. Out of 3,304 boys who appeared for the exams, 2,630 passed with 79.60 per cent while 3,526 girls out of 3,940 emerged successful with 89.49 per cent in the SSLC examinations.
A total of 7,244 students appeared for the exams from government schools, of which 6,156 emerged successful with a pass percentage of 84.98 per cent.
In Puducherry, government schools secured 86.94 per cent, while it was 77.21 per cent in Karaikal. Ten government schools in Puducherry and Karaikal achieved centum results while 45 government schools secured more than 90 per cent results.
S. Preethi of Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School, P. Keerthana of Subramani Bharati HSS in Thirukanur, A.J. Judi Magdalene and B. Vaishnavadvi of St. Joseph of Cluny Girls HSS secured the first rank in Puducherry with 498 marks.
