The parents and students have demanded the Puducherry government to obtain 50 per cent of seats from two private medical colleges for admission under government quota.
S.S. Kalyanasundaram, General Secretary of CENTAC Students Parents Association said that based on recommendation of Medical Council of India (MCI), the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had approved the increase in seats of the private medical colleges-Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute. He said the State Government should get 50 per cent seats from these colleges and admit students under government quota in order to benefit more students.
The second phase of counselling for biology based courses is set to commence on July 24 and end on July 26. Meanwhile the first phase of counselling for engineering and B. Pharm degree courses will be concluded on Monday.
“The last date for admission to all biology based courses is extended till July 22. So, candidates are instructed to report the respective colleges on or before 5 p.m. on July 22,” a notification from CENTAC said.
