Puducherry CEO to call all-party meet to discuss LS polls

As many as 875 polling stations had so far been identified in the Union Territory

The Chief Electoral Office, Puducherry, plans to call for an all-party meeting to discuss the Parliamentary elections soon.

Highly-placed sources told The Hindu that the meeting would be conducted shortly after the announcement of election scheduled by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Preparations were on for calling for the meeting. It would discuss various issues in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections.

Disclosing that it had almost been completed the preparatory works for the elections, a senior official said the checking of electronic voting machines had been completed. Engineers from Bharat Electronic Limited, Bangalore, certified their functioning.

As many as 875 polling stations had so far been identified in the Union Territory . A list of ancillary polling stations was also prepared.

Election-related works had been monitored and reviewed by the Election Commission, almost on a daily basis, through video conference mode. Instructions were being given to field-level election officials. Designated officials had been asked to carry out the given task immediately and send a compliance report to the Election Commission.
