Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi led the International Yoga Day celebrations at the Raj Nivas.
Marking the culmination of a three-day yoga practice on the lawns of the Raj Nivas, instructors of the Isha Yoga Foundation engaged a group of people, including women, school students, NCC volunteers and representatives from NGOs in group learning along with Ms. Bedi.
“Yoga takes you into the present moment, the only place where life exists”, Ms. Bedi would later tweet about the significance of spreading the country’s rich heritage for the benefit of humankind.
She also urged the community to continuously practice yoga, which held multiple benefits for body and mind.
The initiative of yoga practice will now continue through the year every Sunday at the Raj Nivas. All those interested to participate may assemble at Raj Nivas Lawn by 5.45 a.m.
The entry for the participation will be on first come first service basis limited to first 100 interested persons (due to shortage of space). The yoga will be taught by the Isha Yoga teachers/volunteers, a Raj Nivas press note said.
Meanwhile, Pondicherry University faculty, staff and students also held yoga sessions led by Vice Chancellor-in-charge Anisa Basheer Khan.
