Government doctors on Monday conducted a potency test on Pondicherry University professor who was recently arrested on charges of sexually abusing a minor girl. On a petition from the police, a local court has permitted the conduct test on 59-year-old Mathialagan, professor of the Department of Tamil in Pondicherry University.
Following a complaint by the victim, a class VIII student in a government school, to Child Helpline, the case was taken up by Kalapet police., who arrested Mathialagan of Lawspet last week. A case was registered against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the IPC.
