Postal employees in Puducherry on Thursday held a one-day strike demanding the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations only after incorporating the proposed amendments.

Puducherry All India Postal Employees’ Union, National Federation of Postal Employees and Federation of National Postal Organisations organised the protest, which was part of a nationwide agitation, in front of the Head Post Office in Puducherry.

They demanded that the Centre should implement the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission.

It should implement the cadre review for postal employees of all categories and provide the proposed percentage increase in their salaries.

The protesting postal employees demanded adequate infrastructure in all post offices.

Employees led by the Government Employees Federation staged a dharna in front of the Swadeshi Cotton Mill to protest the Pay Commission proposals.
