Pondicherry University library has bagged the Highest Profile Registration category award for effective utilisation of the J-Gate@eShodhSindhu platform.

University librarian R. Samyuktha received the award at the first J-Gate@eShodhSindhu Forum and Information and Library Network Centers (INFLIBNET) meet jointly organised by INFLIBNET and Informatics Publishing Ltd, held at Gandhi Nagar recently.

Pondicherry University is a member of the consortia of leading universities in the country for access to e-resources including electronic journals and electronic databases for major publishers. The UGC INFONET consortium was established three years ago. In 2016, three consortias such as INFONET for Universities, INDEST for IITs and IIMs and N-LIST for Colleges were brought under one umbrella e-ShodhSindhu by the Ministry of Human Resources Development.

Faculty Forum inaugurated

The Faculty Forum of the Department of Music, Faculty of Fine Arts, Annamalai University, Chidambaram was inaugurated recently. Prof. R. Babu, Dean, Faculty of Music presided over the programme. He spoke about the role of the forum in shaping the oratorical skills of teachers and enabling them to showcase their talents.

Gurusamy, Assistant Professor of thavil delivered a lecture on the evolution and development of the instrument.

Session on nano technology

A two-week Faculty Development Program (FDP) sponsored by AICTE on the topic “nano technology for energy and agricultural sectors” was inaugurated at IFET college of Engineering on Monday.

C. Pugazhandi Sugumaran from Anna University, Chennai, inaugurated the programme. Professors and scientists from reputed universities will take part in the technical sessions.

K.V. Raja, Chairman of IFET College of Engineering welcomed the gathering.

Industry-institution interface held

Globizz, the annual industry-institute interface of the Department of International Business, Pondicherry University, was held here recently.

In his special address, Samson, Cultural Secretary, Consul General of France, Puducherry stressed the need for multi-linguistic skills in the current global scenario.

R. Kesavan, Chief General Manager of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and G. Sambasiva Rao, president of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry also spoke.
