March 10, 2014 02:43 pm | Updated May 19, 2016 07:34 am IST - CUDDALORE:

Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Villupuram range) S. Murugan has called upon police personnel to learn all details about polling stations falling within their jurisdiction.

Addressing a meeting of police personnel here, he said that they must also get familiar with the model code of conduct to act in an effective and impartial manner.

It was enjoined upon political parties to inform the police well in advance the date and venue of public meetings and campaign routes. Only after getting a clearance from the police, they should go ahead with the campaign.

The political parties should not put up any election material on government or private properties without the owners’ consent. Public meetings should not be held before 6 a.m. and after 10 p.m.
