Plea to transfer child prostitution case to CBI

April 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - PUDUCHERRY:

Members of the Federation for People’s Rights have adopted a resolution demanding that the child prostitution case which surfaced in May last year be transferred to the CBI.

In a meeting held on Friday, members passed a resolution which alleges discrepancies in the investigation led by the CB-CID, in which five policemen were arrested for their involvement. K. Sugumaran, secretary of the organisation said that though the CB-CID had said it was examining call records in the case and the victims had provided descriptions of people involved, no arrests were made on the basis of these. “We understand that some businessmen, politicians and others were involved.

All of them should be arrested. Adequate compensation must be provided to the victims, and the government must take steps to provide them a normal life,” said Mr. Sugumaran.

The organisation is planning to file a PIL in the Madras High Court, and will also hold a demonstration on May 5 in Puducherry to demand the implementation of these resolutions, he added.
