N.R. Congress-BJP alliance likely

March 08, 2014 11:49 am | Updated May 19, 2016 07:05 am IST - PUDUCHERRY:

The ruling All India N.R. Congress is likely to align with the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the general elections.

Reliable sources confirmed here that the BJP had held several rounds of discussion with the AINRC leadership. The pact is likely to be sealed in a day or two. The BJP had also agreed to allot the lone Puducherry seat to the AINRC. When asked whether the AINRC held discussions with the BJP, the AINRC founder and Chief Minister N. Rangasamy told The Hindu on Friday that he would announce his decision at the right occasion.

While refusing to reveal more details, he said the AINRC would definitely field its candidate in Puducherry.
