NLC India Limited (NLCIL) has proposed to start an Executive MBA programme (part time) in association with Annamalai University. The programme will be open to public and private sector executives and entrepreneurs, Chairman-cum-Managing Director Sarath Kumar Acharya said.
During the Independence Day celebrations, Mr. Acharya said that as part of the Skill India Mission, NLCIL has started a Diploma in Mining, in association with Annamalai University to equip the local youth.

The PSU has also proposed to start similar courses for youth from the project affected families in Ghatampur in Uttar Pradesh and Talibira in Odisha.
Mr. Acharya pointed out that NLCIL was poised to achieve its vision to be a 20,000 MW fuel sufficient power major by 2025. Now NLCIL has a pan India presence and is expanding its business activities across the country.
The CMD also inaugurated ‘Anandam’, an old age home for senior citizens constructed under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme in Neyveli. The old age home will be administered by Helpage India, a non-governmental organisation.
The home will have separate rooms for men and women and free food will be provided by NLCIL.
He also lauded the efforts of Neyveli Ladies Club in running Sneha School, Smart kids play school and creating livelihood, skill development and women empowerment initiatives. Functional Directors Rakesh Kumar, Subir Das, V. Thangapandian, P. Selvakumar and R. Vikraman participated.
At Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer), students, staff and the faculty participated in the celebrations where Jipmer director Dr. Subhash Chandra Parija hoisted the National Flag.
He stressed that Jipmer will continue and expand its services to the unreachable. He urged the youth to work for the future generation and actively participate in creating a healthy and energetic India.
At Pondicherry University, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Anisa Basheer Khan hoisted the tricolour.
‘Protect environment’
In her address, she stressed the need to address issues related to environmental pollution. She said that public transportation, sanitation, power and education infrastructure also required more attention.
During the function, Ms. Khan also distributed electronic device specially designed for visually-challenged Students of the University to enrich their skill in higher education. This device will be given to all visually-impaired students in the institution free of cost, she said.
