NLC India laid the foundation stone for laying of new road and walkway as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives at the Visitors Centre in the international township of Auroville near Puducherry.

R. Mohan, Chief General Manager, CSR, launched the project at the Auroville Township recently in the presence of Srinivas Murthy, Under Secretary, Auroville foundation, and members of Auroville working committee and visitors' centre and NLCIL officials.

Every day, hundreds of visitors visit Auroville, which was founded by The Mother of Sri Aurobindo Ashram on February 28, 1968. Men and women from 54 nations have settled permanently in Auroville where they work towards realising the goal of human unity as envisioned by The Mother.

The present stretch of dirt road receives heavy traffic and gets damaged during the rainy season.

Considering the request of the Auroville Foundation, NLCIL has taken up the work of providing and laying paver blocks for roads, roadways and walkways for 900 metres at a cost of ₹1.1 crore as part of its CSR initiative.
