New paved walkway laid in Auroville

NLCIL constructs the road, parking facility and pedestrian way at cost of ₹1.1 cr.

A new paved walkway has been laid at Auroville, which is celebrating its golden jubilee, courtesy NLCIndia Ltd.

Responding to a request of the Auroville Foundation, NLCIL laid the paver block road to a length of 950 metres, a parking facility with an area of 2,350 sq.m. and a pedestrian way to a length of 140 m at a cost of ₹1.1 crore under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.

NLCIL CMD Sarat Kumar Acharya dedicated the road/walkway, parking area and pedestrian way recently.

Mr. Acharya, in his address, said the NLCIL had taken this opportunity to serve the Auroville Foundation, which is practising and promoting sustainable, environmental, social and spiritual living among human kind with the concept of an ideal township devoted to an experiment in human unity.

R.Vikraman, director (HR), NLCIL, felicitated the senior officials of CSR and the employees of NLCIL present at the function.

P.R Srinivasmurty, Under-Secretary, Auroville Foundation, and Aurovilians Carel Thieme and Nicole complimented the NLCIL for the gesture.
