Narayanasamy calls on Kulaste

He presses for higher intake in Jipmer, early completion of Karaikal campus

Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Thursday called on Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Faggan Singh Kulaste. During his meeting, the Chief Minister requested the Union Minister to increase the medical seats in Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer).

He met the Minister on the sidelines of a function at Jipmer to mark the launch of Bimstec telemedicine facility. The Chief Minister said increasing the number of seats would help local students getting admitted in Jipmer.

Mr. Narayanasamy wanted the Centre to fix the fee structure of medical courses in deemed universities.

The fixing of fees by the Centre would help avoid unnecessary controversies, he added.

The Chief Minster wanted the Unoin Ministry of Health to speed up work on Jipmer campus in Karaikal. He sought additional funds for various health schemes in rural areas.

Minister for Health Malladi Krishna Rao was present.
