Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Friday.
The meeting comes at a time when the fight between the ruling Congress and Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi over administrative control of the Union Territory has reached its zenith with Mr. Narayanasamy writing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi complaining about Ms. Bedi’s style of functioning.
The Chief Minister on October 23 wrote a letter to Mr. Modi listing out measures taken by Ms. Bedi bypassing his government.
The Chief Minister told The Hindu over phone that he had a “fruitful” discussion with the Home Minister on issues concerning the UT. “All matters were discussed and even the Home Secretary was present at the meeting,” he said.
Mr. Narayanasamy said he also had a separate meeting with the Home Secretary. The Chief Minister said he would meet Union Minister for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to apprise him of the port development work.
Social Welfare Minister M. Kandasamy and Minister for Tourism Malladi Krishna Rao were present on the occasion.
