Unidentified persons torched three motorbikes and bicycles parked in front of a house at Karuvadikuppam on Sunday. According to police, Jayakumar (45), a businessman had parked his two-wheeler in front of his house.

Poured petrol

Miscreants had poured petrol on the motorbikes and cycles and set them on fire. They later fled the scene. On seeing the fire, Jayakumar and neighbours attempted to douse them.

However, the vehicles were completely gutted in the incident. Police suspect the incident as fallout of previous enmity between Jayakumar and one Parthiban of Thennansalai.

Police said Jayakumar was the caretaker of the flat belonging to one Nadarajan (48), an employee of Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC). Nadarajan had let out his flat on rent to Parthiban of Chennai. A few days ago Jayakumar had asked Parthiban to vacate as he had not paid rent for three months. Police said Parthiban was absconding and the possibility of previous enmity was also being probed. A case has been registered.
