The district administration and the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management, Puducherry will conduct an off-site emergency mock drill on Thursday.
The drill, scheduled to start at 2 p.m. at the Chemfab Alkalis Limited, Kalapet will involve emergency support units and line departments such as Fire Service Department, Police Department, Health Department, Department of Science, Technology & Environment, Inspectorate of Factories, and Industries Department, Volunteers of NSS/NCC/Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan.
The main objectives of the mock drill is to ascertain the preparedness of the District Administration to tackle an emergency situation in ensuring the safety of the community and to sensitise the local community on the precautionary measures to be followed, in case of any leakage of gas occurs at the factory premises.
The district administration in collaboration with Chemfab Alkalis Limited has already conducted sensitisation programme in schools around the factory.
