AIADMK MLA Vayyapuri Manikandan on Monday attended the Assembly wearing black dress to protest against the failure of the government in addressing the drinking water problem at Muthialpet.

Speaking on the motion of thanks to the Lieutenant Governor for her address to the House, Mr. Manikandan said the people had to travel to Kottakuppam to fetch water. People living in several areas were deprived of clean drinking water.

The government had promised to implement a drinking water scheme under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation.

The scheme remained only on paper for the last several months, he added.
