Opposition AIADMK legislator A. Baskar on Saturday submitted a petition to the Speaker V. Vaithilingam, seeking action against those responsible for breaching his privilege by circulating a false message on WhatsApp on the night of January 10 that led to Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi ordering an inquiry.
In his petition, Mr. Baskar alleged that the message purportedly sent by Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi from her mobile to mediapersons projected him as having threatened officials when they asked him to bring his new car for registration after removing the black film on the windshield as per the Supreme Court directions.
Mr. Baskar denied owning a BMW car as had been stated in the WhatsApp message. He also denied that he had gone to the Regional Transport Office for fixing the high security registration plate. The message had caused him mental agony and it appeared that the motive of the message was to malign his reputation as a legislator amongst the public.
The message is also a clear breach of privilege, he said.
