Missing jewellery resurfaces mysteriously

Around 30 sovereigns of jewellery were found missing from a house in Rainbow Nagar here on Wednesday. However, the jewellery was found intact a few hours later.

The police sources said Ilango, 54, a tinkering shop owner in Ariyankuppam, lodged a complaint that around 30 sovereigns of jewellery were found missing from the house.

Mr. Ilango’s wife Gajalakshmi, an employee with the Education Department, returned home for lunch on Wednesday afternoon.

On her return, she found the lock of the main door open and jewellery kept inside missing. She alerted Mr. Ilango, who lodged a complaint with the Grand Bazaar police.

A police team inspected the house.

However, the jewellery was found intact a few hours later raising suspicion.

The police are investigating.
