Mill workers demand bonus without ceiling

The Pondicherry Textile Mills Labour Union has urged the Government to ensure that workers of Swadeshi and Bharathi mills were paid without ceiling a uniform bonus for Deepavali.

In a release, D. Ravi, president of the Union said at present workers in the two mills are eligible for payment of bonus with a ceiling of Rs.7,000. The Government should remove the condition and ensure that workers are provided with a uniform bonus on par with employees in other textile mills in the Union Territory.
