Mega Lok Adalat awards Rs. 32 crore in compensation

In the Mega Lok Adalat held on the premises of the District Sessions Court here on Saturday, 24,199 cases were disposed of and more than Rs.32.01 crore in compensation was disbursed. Some of these cases had been pending since 2008. Principal District and Sessions Judge S. Kumaraguru, who handed over the cheques to the claimants, said motor accident cases constituted a major chunk of the settled claims.

Of the 1,560 motor accident cases, 855 were disposed of, and Rs.14.01 crore was given away to the victims or their families.

In 121 civil cases, Rs.5.23 crore was settled, and in 38 matrimonial cases, Rs 10.35 lakh was awarded to the aggrieved partners.
