Mega job fair in Puducherry on May 26

3, 500 vacancies to be filled in; 35 leading IT firms are expected to participate

The Directorate of Information Technology, Government of Puducherry, in association with the ICT Academy is organising a mega job fair ‘Link 2018’ on May 26 at Manakulavinayagar Institute of Technology, Kalitheerthalkuppam.

Addressing the presspersons on Saturday, Minister for Information and Technology M.O.H.F.Shahjahan said that this year all the qualified students can attend this mega job fair, which was open only to the students of IT Finishing School Programme until last year.

The Directorate of Information Technology, in association with ICT Academy and Directorate of Higher and Technical Education, is imparting training under IT Finishing School Programme to the students in the final year of all government and private engineering colleges, polytechnic, arts and science colleges to increase their employability skills.

“Nearly 35 leading companies of IT and ITeS including HCL Technologies, CSS Corporation, Hyundai, Technosoft, eTo, Datamatics, Integra, TNQ, Allsec Technologies, Viseton, Sutherland, Amtex Software Solutions will be participating in the job fair,” he said, adding that there are 3,500 vacancies to be filled in this job fair. “At the end of this drive, all the selected students will be issued offer letter,” he said.

He added that students of engineering, arts and science and polytechnic college who have passed out in the year 2016-17 and the current year 2017-18 can attend the job fair. Those keen to attend the fair can log on to the website http://pdy.ictacademy.in/Link2018/ and register themselves free of cost online. The students can attend interview for more than one company without any restriction and should bring sufficient number of copies of their resume. “The salaries offered by the companies range from ₹1.20 lakh to ₹4.70 lakh per annumn,” he said.

During 2016-17, 3,882 students were trained. Of them, 2530 students were offered job opportunities in various company through the job fair. “This year, we are expecting at least 7,000 students from engineering, arts and science, polytechnic colleges in the UT of Puducherry,” he said.

Free bus services from 10 different points would be operated for the job fair including Kalapet, Bahour, Madukarai, Koliyanur Koot Road, Indira Gandhi Square, Rajiv Gandhi Square, Gorimedu, Villianur, Pathukannu and Thirukanur.

e-office

Mr. Shahjahan said the Department of Information and Technology has been turned into an e-office. “All the files can be tracked online and the officers use the e-signatures to sign the documents. This pilot programme was initiated to bring in transparency,” he said.

He added that the Directorate of Education will issue transfer certificates online through service centres for the Class X and XII students.
