Thieves broke into a house belonging to an agent of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) at Lingareddypalayam near Thirukkanur and took away 10 sovereigns of jewellery and two kg of silver articles on Thursday night.

According to police, Ravichandran (40), his wife Punitha, and two children were sleeping inside a room in their house on Thursday night when the burglars broke into the house through the back door. On hearing the commotion, Mr. Ravichandran woke up and saw the door broken.

When they saw Mr. Ravichandran, the burglars fled the scene with the jewellery and silver articles which they had taken out from a steel cupboard.
