The leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from the State unit are scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday to pressure them to recall Lieutenant Governor Virendra Kataria.
Leave for DelhiBJP’s Puducherry State unit president M. Visweswaran, General Secretary R.V. Swaminathan and vice-president V. Paranthaman left for New Delhi on Sunday night.
When contacted, Mr. Visweswaran confirmed that the delegation would meet Mr. Modi and Mr. Rajnath Singh on Monday.
“Our stand is that the Lieutenant Governor Mr. Kataria has to step down on moral grounds.”
‘Unhealthy precedent’“Even after the Congress party lost in the elections, a Congress appointee occupies Raj Nivas which is not a healthy precedent. He has to step down of his own accord or we intend to seek necessary action against him when we will meet our leaders in New Delhi,” added Mr. Visweswaran.
The Lieutenant Governor has been camping in New Delhi for the last couple of days.
