July 23, 2014 11:27 am | Updated 11:27 am IST - PUDUCHERRY:

Helping students develop interest in the “single largest source of a variety of statistical information on different characteristics of the people of India,” the ASN Government Middle School celebrated Census Week recently.

The Census Organisation has been implementing the ‘Census in School’ programme across the country for students of Standard VI, VII and VIII in particular. The programme at ASN Government Middle School, Mudaliarpet, sensitised children to the significance of census data and census as a subject of study.

The school asked the students to ensure that data for their family and the neighbourhood community is returned correctly. Activities included lessons on the census and a quiz competition. The winner of the quiz, M.Yuvarajan, will participate in the all-India online census quiz contest in November 2014, said teacher D. Aravindaraja.
